The development of advanced Model S suspension parts and the racing program kicked off June 2021 with the race car Dark Helmet as they set out to develop the ultimate performance handling Model S. The results have followed as Unplugged brought home to the Tesla community a Pikes Peak class victory and multiple production-based EV lap records with our development race car. As a result, wethey were able to develop an entire range of suspension components that can be purchased individually or as a comprehensive lineup upgrade, all catering to improved driving dynamics & performance, both on and off the track. And after releasing these parts for the 2021+ Model S Plaid / Model S vehicles, Unplugged is now releasing these for the new Model X Plaid / Model X.
All of our suspension development begins with precision 3D scanning of the car’s suspension to develop a working digital model, then followed by real-world racing and street use internally on the company vehicles before rolling out to the public. The Model S Plaid + LR Billet Adjustable Rear Camber Arm Set for 2021+ Tesla Model S variants, has been developed on thePikes Peak Class-Winning “Dark Helmet” race car. The multi-link rear suspension on the new Model S presents a large engineering challenge to solve to allow both maximum adjustment of rear camber as well as proper usability for the technician performing the alignment. In going through a myriad of suspension settings for Pikes Peak as well as record laps at Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow Unplugged ended up doing alignments over and over. These camber arms provide maximum alignment flexibility and durability with sealed spherical bushings and CNC-milled billet aluminum construction, coupled with high-strength stainless steel adjustment mechanisms.
