Almost all Tesla Model Y owners use the rear cargo area to carry and store a variety of items, some valuable. Because the Model Y is a hatchback, it’s easy for outsiders to see the items through the large hatchback window, and in a worst-case scenario, decide they want them. The cargo cover is easy to install and remove, allowing you easy access to the entire cargo space when the Model Y rear seats are folded down. Specification

The Retractable Cargo Cover for Tesla Model Y is fabricated with a high strength, powder-coated aluminum frame and a woven spring-loaded cover that retracts into the frame. The frame is 43 in. (109 cm) long and 1.375 in. (3.5 cm) square in cross-section. When fully retracted, the cargo cover protrudes out of the frame by approximately 5.6 in. (14.3 cm), allowing easy access to the pull handle.

The cover is constructed from high-strength, non-woven fabric that is both durable and water-resistant. A hard plastic pull tab (with handle) protrudes approximately 6 inches beyond the non-woven fabric. The retractable cover is spring-loaded in much the same way as a window shade. When removed from its rear attachment mount, it springs back into the frame assembly, allowing unimpeded access to the rear cargo area

The frame is also spring-loaded at its ends, making snap-on installation and removal easy.

Molded ABS attachment mounts have been designed to conform to the cargo space side geometry behind the rear seats (where the frame is attached) and in the rear of the cargo area, where the cargo cover pull tab is attached when it is extended. These mounts are attached using double-sided adhesive strips (no drilling or screws are required).

Is the EVANNEX Retractable Cargo Cover hard to remove if I need easy access to the entire cargo area once I fold down the rear seats?

Absolutely not! The ends of the cargo cover frame are spring-loaded, allowing for a reliable and solid fit, but also enabling you to remove the frame in seconds, when you need access across the boundary between the rear cargo area and the second row area.

When I pull out the cargo cover from the frame, how does it stay in place?

The rear attachment mounts have a molded insertion slot that conforms to the shape and size of the end extension of the hard pull tab. You simply pull the cover past the attachment mount and then allow it to retract into the slot.

How are the “attachment mounts” attached to the sides of the storage area?

Because we used a laser scan, the shape of the attachment mounts conforms exactly to the OEM side geometry. Simply remove the double side adhesive on the back of the forward and rear mounts, press them into place and you’re done. No drilling or screws are required.

I see other “retractable covers” online. What makes the EVANNEX Retractable Cargo Cover better?

Some of these covers don’t fit well, and a few require gyrations (e.g., they get stuck on the cargo area sides unless you follow a very specific pull-out path) once you pull the cover out. Others do not have spring-loaded frame ends, making installation and removal a chore. At EVANNEX, we pay attention to detail, removing those problems before rushing a product to market.
